Creative Director Glenn Martens showcases his strongest collection for Y/Project Fall 2017 RTW.
Another runway worth noting in the Paris Fashion Week is Y/Project as they introduced a new and innovative form of sophistication and avant-garde fashion while combining the classical street-wear elements we’ve known. Owner and Creative Director Glenn Martens showcases his strongest collection yet in this latest collection, which featuring elaborate use of fabrics, frills and layers.
According to an interview after the show, Martens said that he was thinking of Nineties rappers as the royalty. Evident on his use of historic royal prints and oversized outerwear and tops, the collection is a definite play on fabric, styles and themes. Sticking to some feminine and very classic fabrics such as colored silks, velvet and tulle in some of the pieces the shrouded-feel of the entire collection becomes a huge contrast to the textiles. Other notable pieces include the leather crinkled booths that reach leg high, slouchy track suits, cut-ribbed bomber jackets, exaggerated strips of fabric pieces draping down skirts and dresses and all around a quirky street-style meets sophisticated meets aristocratic feel.
