After working in Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Preen and Roksanda Illincic, Cynthia Mak returned to Hong Kong and started her own label unanimously to set its ambitions in fashion design. From her Spring/Summer 2015 lookbook, Mak gives us a striking bold character through a combination of primary and neutral coloured palette with a sophisticated contemporary graphic design. She create a whimsical note when gather the accents from oriental aesthetic with Parisian-esque refinement, brings together an indulgent creation with quality that was elegant.
As specific as her aesthetic may seem, Cynthia Mak devoted her life in learning about fashion and constructing garments. With her enthusiasm and endless hours of work, she graduated from Central Saint Martins with distinction. Her strong final collection also garnered her the praise of Italian Vogue by naming her as a designer to watch out for and including her in their list of “New Talents”. That expertise was clearly visible in her first collection, when she offer both minimal, offhand quality that made it desirable. The central focus of this collection was a new lengths skirts and a delicate navy-black-and-white striped that are slightly give the impression of ease and romantic. A combination of stripe and oriental pattern introduced a tone of reserve and its tactility serving less as a contemporary spin. Mak forged new ground with the gaudy bold colour in her first signature collection, she entered it into her aesthetic vocabulary with real aplomb, making her as designer to watch out for in the upcoming feature becomes mandatory.
