We might never saw Lady Gaga walk down the runway again on any MUGLER show as Nicola Formichetti decides to part ways with his 2 years home-the Parisian fashion house founded by the designer Thierry Mugler, which Nicola renamed into MUGLER. Nicola who became famous for styling Lady Gaga, announced a couple days ago he was leaving the prestigious French fashion house Thierry Mugler, after a successful two year run that revitalized and revamped the sleepy brand.
Less than 48 hours after his news leaving MUGLER, Nicola has been named as the luxury denim brand Diesel’s first artistic director. And while he’s set to take on a top role at Diesel, we thought it was an opportune moment to look through the best fashion collection of his stint at the French fashion house. Back to his 2 years in MUGLER, Nicola has been giving us a signature millenial-space-futuristic designs. He also ressurect Thierry Mugler’s “insect” inspired designs from 1997 on his Fall 2012 collection. Though his designs became a bit more wearable and elegant in recent seasons; his final collection for the house fall 2013, he seemed to really solidify his vision for the house in a sleek, yet very MUGLER, way.
Joel Palix, the president of Clarins Fragrance Group and director general of Mugler said, “In the two years of his tenure Nicola has accomplished our original mission of bringing his energy to the brand‚ Nicola has been instrumental in attracting a new audience which is undeniably crucial for the future strategy of the house.” (Text Indira Iman)
