Howard and Guy Lawrence successfully shows new side of Lorde in Disclosure’s “Magnet” video
Disclosure just dropped their new video ‘Magnets’, featuring Ella Yelich-O’Connor aka Lorde, the teenage pop star with her ambiguous, moody and rebellious charm.
Lorde, who usually loves to personify herself in a quirky manner, appeared to be less anomalous and more sexual in this high profile collaboration with the electronic duo.
Magnets is one of the most sexiest and powerful single from Disclosure’s sophomore LP, Caracal. As clearly depicted in the music video, Lorde brings out her inner female fatale to seduce an older man to a point where they end up having a passionate affair. As the affair heats up, we find the innocent looking Lorde far from your ordinary angel. She prepares a revengeful plan which shocks us in the end.
Disclosure successfully shows a different side of Lorde in ‘Magnets’. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Disclosure’s Howard and Guy Lawrence described how they felt an instant bond with Lorde when she joined them in the studio to produce “Magnets.” “She turned up on her own, no management or bodyguard,” Howard said. “That’s the most equal collaboration on the record. You can really hear her sound — she has this sassy yet vulnerable thing.” (Text S. Chairunnisa)
