As Jonathan Anderson receives a warm welcome in the industry under Loewe, this fashion house underwent a tremendous brand revamp. And it’s one that the industry is intriguingly favored in. Going by the timeless saying, “out with old; in with new,” Anderson poured his charismatic couture passion to Loewe’s newfound DNA. He was called out by cotton, linen and leather during his trip down to España, whispering to him of realistic modernism in garments, which through the show, the collection appear to be as natural and raw as the primitive aesthetics in it could hold. In comparison to former Loewe’s luxe of dark eveningwear-orientation, Anderon’s Loewe was a dreamscape to an escalating desirability.
Amongst the “au natural” lineup, Anderson created leather shift dresses and tops, covered in remnants of old garments, colored knit halter necks in oatmeal and wide-legged leather trousers with broad tie waists. In all shades of neutral visions, the many pieces were injected in rose pinks, sky blues, shades of oatmeal and beiges and classic whites. The merging of fabrics was seen through the leather and suede lightweight coats that Anderson concentrated to be luxury daywear, giving Loewe a clever classic take on womenswear. Pleated circular shirts, crumpled tie-waist skirts and asymmetric knitwear in combinations of raw linen and humble cotton were the collection’s vision of modest wealth. For a more traditionally culture force, Anderson’s artisanal collection was filled with an array of loose-fitting Obi waistlines, previously mentioned, on leather pants and eccentric latex T-shirts, printed with paradisiacal vintage prints. And don’t mind the fine leather-centric loafers, with low or mid-block sized heels – perhaps, a representation of genuine summer footwear.
The rawness of naturalist in Anderson’s soul was prominently sought out in this collection of pure artisan. As he speaks much of the Spanish women, the drive to be tangible in womenswear was one Loewe needed to pursue. It was simply a breath taking earthy-injected collection that spoke of Anderson’s charisma and soul with bold fashion statements of approachable luxury. (Text Nadilla Sari Ratman)
