Japan’s alternative-rock band RADWIMPS share visual for ‘Sokkenai’ featuring actress Nana Komatsu and actor Fuuju Kamio.

Originally an independent rock band, Radwimps is now one of the most well-known names in the Japanese music scene. Formed in 2001 when the band members were still in high school, RADWIMPS has now become an overnight sensation not only in Japan but also globally, largely due to the soundtrack and scoring for the megahit animated movie “Your Name” (Kimi No Nawa). Following the success of their previous album, the band will be releasing a new one this December. The album titled is “ANTI ANTI GENERATION” will include 17 new tracks, in which three of them will feature guest appearances from ONE OK ROCK frontman Taka, singer-songwriter Aimyon, and New York-based rapper Miyachi. There have also been a few of singles that had been released this year, such as Saihate Aini, Mountain Top, Catharsist. And the list goes on.

In conjunction to the new album announcement, RADWIMPS also dropped a new video for Sokkenai featuring actress Nana Komatsu (Silence, The World of Kanako, Drowning Love) and actor Fuuju Kamio (Signal, My Brother Loves Me Too Much), as a couple who are physically close yet worlds apart. Directed by Yusuke Ishida, the visuals portray the song’s lyrics about a couple who desires closure and certainty in their relationship as their time is running out. The music video is simple yet so deep, shot in a living room depicting people was just passed out and sleep after a night of partying, while focusing on Nana and Fuuju having their intimate moment. It is sweet and devastating at the same time because of the unexpected ending. Curious? Just watch the video below, and see for yourself.
