There’s something to look forward to at H&M this October! Minju Kim, the free-ridden winner of this year’s H&M Design Award, has ensemble a unique capsule collection like never seen before down a runway show. Inspired by nightmares monsters drawn by Japanese horror artist Junji Ito and the ideology of “fake friendship”, the nine-pieced winning collection of Minju Kim instills a dreamy vision of Japanese horror comic strips with pastels, quirkiness and cuts with monster-like textiles. A South Korean, Master degree graduate of Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Minju Kim undoubtedly has a personal vision to approach the fashion world with her own real twists and treasures, thus through the collaboration, her optimistic talent inevitably made it through the buzz.
The collection is featured with brightly yellowed, collarless jacquard cotton coats, peplum tops in pastel tints, paneled babydoll dresses in mixtures of matt and shine and sweatshirts printed with Manga-inspired-à-la-Minju Kim images. And as a cherry on top to the look, there are studded-metal-spiked tassled wedges and caricature-like turquoise leather collars. Her South Korean fashionable origins did not fail to “wow” the fashion world in the West, indeed.
Interested? Babydoll dresses only for £34.99 and leather collars only for £29.99! H&M x Minju Kim “Dear My Friend” collaborated collection is available on H&M’s online store – easy access, starting from October 17. Retail store wise, the collection will be available at selected H&M stores throughout Sweden, Denmark, United States, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Surely, it is a Manga-inspired investment. (Text Nadilla Sari Ratman)
