10 years of not returning to homeland since he graduated from Antwerp’s elite Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Heaven Tanudiredja returned with a design collaboration with a Jakarta high-end concept store The Papilion Duo.
Heaven Tanudiredja’s career began at an early age by working for Biyan for 5 years before set up his own dream in Europe in 2004. After graduated from Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp then he joined John Galliano at Christian Dior Couture and Dries van Noten before launching his eponymous label in 2009. He started to design jewellery when he was in college and gained support from his mentors, including Dries when he was still working in there.
Known as his previous collaboration with Juun. J and Iris van Herpen, this time Heaven collaborated with Tania from The Papilion to create an idea of imperfection that he called “Mental Disorder” and combine it with the idea of beauty itself and poured to 30 statement of jewellery pieces. The highly sculptural items combine gold, enamel and vintage crystals from the Twenties, brought the chaos behind the psychological sickness concept and common sense of perfect beauty at the same time.
From season to season, Heaven always combines old craftsmanship and new craftsmanship to create more characteristic in every pieces of his collection. This exclusive collaboration showcased the beauty of art works in a strange way, 30 statement pieces through the theme installation includes top-quality handmade accessories, from super-precious necklaces to sculptural and elegant cufflinks will remain open at The Papilion Duo, Pacific Place, from September 10 to 30. The collection itself is also available at The Papilion within prices range between 350 euros (or $457) to 9,000 euros (or $11,769). (Text Teuku Ajie)
