Editor’s Pick: Dior Homme x Dan Witz Fall/Winter 2017. The collaboration was in part Van Assche’s long interest and connection with the underground music scene, making the collection rather a personal translation of his past.
As part of the Dior Homme’s Winter 2017 collection, creative director Kris Van Assche collaborated with Brooklyn-based hyperrealist artist Dan Witz. Printed are Dan Witz’s series, “Mosh Pit”, which are printed onto various clothing pieces including jackets, hats, trousers, shoes and even accessories.
The collaboration was in part Van Assche’s long interest and connection with the underground music scene, making the collection rather a personal translation of his past. The realistic look of the prints give a rather eerie yet new touch to Dior Homme’s collection a new breath of fresh air and an artistic appeal to the classic pieces of the menswear collection.
Our personal pick would be the lightweight jacket and bomber jacket. The semi-photographic, hyper realistic artwork smears the conventional pieces into works of art. The pieces attract would definitely attract the young and expressive ones, as how the collection screams statement through the hyper realistic artistic stroke from Dan Witz. The collection definitely adds extra meticulous detail to the poised and classy version of Dior, making this one a relatable collection to those wishing they could elevate their fashion style up a notch. The trio shoes presented in the collection also offers a younger look, adding a touch of eye-catching graphics, perfectly and seamlessly gradating into the tones of the shoes.
