The new venture for the actress, singer, songwriter, French fashion icon, and now designer. Nicholas Ghesquière muse Charlotte Gainsbourg has teamed up with premium-denim brand Current Elliott to design four exclusive capsule collections inspired by her own innate sense of style. Many reasons to love Charlotte Gainsbourg, chief among them her amazing performances in films like AntichristMelancholiaThe Science of Sleep and Nymphomaniac and her incredibly soothing, mellow music (her third, Beck-produced album IRM is a particular favorite). But to be honest, the fashion industry probably loves the Anglo-French star most because of her perfectly unfussy, minimalist sense of style.

Joined forces with the Current/Elliott creative director Serge Azria on a capsule collection that will continue for four seasons, Charlotte reflect the prevailing perception about the strenuously edited French wardrobe, with its combination of unfussy staples and just-loud-enough statement pieces. The capsule’s first delivery just hit CurrentElliott.com, and it’s filled with cool leather jackets, Breton stripes and, of course, straight-leg jeans identical to the ones we’ve seen Gainsbourg herself sporting since day one. Put simply, it’s French-girl chic through and through—but, with prices starting at $128 (for a white t-shirt) and topping out at over $2,000 (for a leather coat), it’ll cost you a pretty penny.
