Forming their label two years ago and launched their first full Spring/Summer collection in 2014, Norwegian footwear brand, Avvikk, celebrate the release of their new lookbook for the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2015 collection ‘Tundra’. Offering a range of unisex footwear options as part of their second collection to date, Avvikk has opted for stylistically simple design, typified by juxtaposing textures, patterns and colours. This time they took the inspiration from Northern landscapes, into the space between the arctic and the alpine forests of Norway through the damp mossy grasslands and watery ocean blues that are cradled by shades of ice and snow and midnight blacks.
The new collection pushes the boundaries into a hi-tech approach with smooth, matt coated ‘rubber feel’ leathers, ‘steel satin’ crushed metallic fabric and glossy printed leathers that mix with new shapes and fastenings. Leaving out laces for the collection, A/W 15 dives into a sleek dimension of new shapes with velcro, neoprene and zippers in runner, boot and classic shapes. The young label’s design elements are referenced throughout, filtered through a Scandinavian lens resulting in an aesthetic that is largely their own. (Text Teuku Ajie)
