Billie Eilish drops tribute to her brother in a self-directed music video. “Everything I Wanted” is another self-directed visual from the eighteen-year-old star and is dedicated to her brother, Finneas.
After directed her recent music video for the haunting track “xanny”, singer-songwriter Billie Eilish has just shared another self-directed visual for her single “everything i wanted”, which came out in November 2019 and is the first song since the singer’s debut album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?. The clip begins with text on the screen saying, “Finneas is my brother and my best friend. no matter the circumstance, we always have and always will be there for each other.”
In a statement, Billie spoke out on the meaning of the single: “my brother and I wrote this song about each other and I wanted to create a visual that emphasizes that no matter what, we’ll be there for each other through everything. This is the second video I’ve directed of mine. We worked so hard, for hours and hours on end. I love it, and I hope you do too.”
The music video is quite mellow for a rather moody song, showing Billie and her brother Finneas, who is also her producer, sitting in a car as Billie drives for the song’s entirety. The visual begins with the two siblings in a car, Finneas sitting shotgun, driving through the city and toward the beach as the sun sets into the sunken purple sky behind them. Billie drives into the sea and, as the car sinks, Billie and Finneas hold hands, showing that they’ll always be there for each other in spite of everything. (Text Jordinna Joaquin)
