BEVZA Fall-Winter 2018/2019 Collection. FAUX REALITY takes on the label’s latest collection, featuring puffy fur coats sans the fur.
Ukrainian label Bevza has made a statement and pulled out an attitude for fashion week seasons in New York and Paris. Designer Svetlana Bevza is a long known label in her country, Ukraine. Local presence of the brand has stroke consumers and not until a few years ago, Bevza began presenting works in Tbilisi. Just last year, the label took the New York spotlight for the first time, opening new opportunities for international clienteles and presence.
The designer has released their Fall-Winter 2018/2019 collection entitled FAUX REALITY, featuring lots of furs, minimalist silhouettes, broad and masculine shoulders, as well as dainty dresses. In a world where the fashion industry is steering clear from anything fur and animal-related, Bevza took a bold turn of presenting faux animal furs and prints as a means to show elegance yet present a satirical collection.
The collection draws inspiration from Gwyneth Paltrow particularly in her role as Margot Tenenbaums in The Royal Tenenbaums, Anna Wintour, and Carrie Bradshaw. Modern and new elegance are the highlight of the collection, where dramatic undulating puffy and animal-printed coats where used to give an illusion of luxe fur in trompe l’oeil print. That’s where the satire comes into play. The jackets are an illusion of the wealth and drama but when worn, these jackets contain no animal fur or goose feathers. The solution? A smart cushioning of down alternatives and printed nylon.
Other notable pieces of the collection are the masculinity presented through sleek and broad-shouldered blazers, but maintaining a decorative and dainty element to it. Delicate translucent trousers, small white dresses, and low-heeled 1980s-inspired pointy shoes make up most of the details of the collection. Other accessories that dominated the collection are the waist-bags made entirely out of sateen. A wonderful complement to the classy and modern elegance the collection is going after.
